Audacy launched 114 podcasts in 2025 and 86 still publish. Voice of America launched 89 and 1 does

Audacy started 114 podcast feeds in 2025. 86 of them, 75.4%, published an episode between 16 June and 16 August 2026. Voice of America started 89 and one of them did.

We took every feed in the Podcast Index dump of 16 August 2026 whose oldest episode is dated in 2025, 356,901 in all, and checked which ones had a new episode in the 61 days before the dump. Across the whole year's launches the answer is 78,544, or 22.0%. The media companies we checked do much better.

Leave out Voice of America and the 14 other brands kept 391 of 657 shows going, 59.5%. That is close to three times the rate for everyone else.

iHeartMedia launches the most, Audacy keeps the most

iHeartMedia started more shows than any other brand we checked, 246, and a little over half are still running. Audacy started fewer than half as many and kept three in four. The BBC sits below both at 47.5%, across feeds from BBC Sounds, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live and the stations in Wales and Northern Ireland.

Voice of America stopped on two dates

Voice of America launched 84 of its 89 shows between January and March 2025. 78 of the 89 are in languages other than English, from Pashto and Shona to Cantonese. 62 of them published their last episode on 31 March 2025, and 17 more stopped between 13 and 15 March. That is the week of the 14 March 2025 executive order that cut back the US Agency for Global Media, VOA's parent. The one feed still publishing in August 2026 is the Korean service, VOA 한국어.

How we counted

Source: Podcast Index feed dump, 16 August 2026. A feed counts as launched in 2025 when its oldest episode is dated in 2025, and as still publishing when its newest episode is dated 16 June 2026 or later. A feed belongs to a brand when its iTunes owner name or author names that brand; local stations that publish under their own name (an ESPN or NPR affiliate, say) are not included.
